    Albertine Meunier

    France

Albertine Meunier is a french digital artist. She has been practicing so-called digital art since 1998, and is particularly inclined to use the Internet as raw material. She explores the essential poetry and esthetics of the networks. She cultivates simple, minimal forms, which may sometimes appear to be tinkered from scratch, but she intentionally distances herself from the hyper-technicity of digital installations. Her works question, both critically and playfully, big online players such as Google. In her research and in her artworks, she attempts to reveal the invisible poetry of all things digital. Albertine leads us on a playfully, impertinently and drolly poetic journey. She is DataDada, it’s obvious!

A Frying Pan on the Beach

How could the legs be on top when they're supposed to be underneath...

The absence of arms is particularly intriguing. Could our frying pan have decided that arms were superfluous for a day at the beach?

What happened to the frying pan itself? It seems that our kitchen utensil has managed to become completely invisible, leaving only these mysterious legs as a trace of its existence.

This unexpected interpretation prompts us to reflect: what really defines a frying pan? is it its form, its function, or simply our idea of it?
