Filmmakers whose films were chosen to appear in the 2025 Seattle AI Film Festival.
Elettra Fiumi is a Swiss-based Florentine-American filmmaker and founder of Fiumi Studios. Her work centers on emotionally driven storytelling through the lens of the female gaze, blending documentary sensibilities with experimental and AI-powered techniques. She is part of the Sora Alpha Artist program and a Leonardo.Ai Creator, and she currently teaches AI for Cinema while developing her first AI-driven feature film. Her films have screened at festivals including Locarno Film Festival, DOC NYC, and the Milan Design Film Festival, and she has directed projects for The New Yorker and the BBC. Her award-winning film Radical Landscapes grew out of a decade spent digitizing and archiving the Florentine radical architecture group 9999. Her latest short, Poster Breaker—an official selection in both the Narrative Short Short and Experimental Short categories at the Seattle AI Film Festival—explores the symbolic act of a woman breaking free from the confines of her role, represented by a flamenco dancer leaping out of a vintage poster. Once she steps out, she’s free—her dance embodying flamenco’s power to turn pain into beauty, tragedy into poetry. Created using OpenAI’s Sora, the film plays with the tension between realism and surrealism, showcasing the expressive potential of AI tools in visual storytelling.
